Although we’re tucked into the lower level of the Mill House of Savannah Rapids Park across from the stunning Reed Creek Waterfalls, The Bike Peddler started out as a mobile business in 2011 under a tent alongside the water’s edge of the Augusta Canal. Gene Whitaker, aka the “Bike Whisperer” lugged bikes on a trailer to the water more than 200 times during his first two years as the bike renter. After finding a permanent location with more room for repairs, Whitaker decided to expand his business and start selling accessories and bikes. Unlike most shops, The Bicycle Peddler caters to the recreational cyclist, is the only Jamis and Nirve bike dealer in the area, and THE ONLY SHOP OPEN ON SUNDAYS.
